The event saw a large attendance from all walks of life, prominent scholars, students, community members, and women for whom special arrangements had been made.

The program was in keeping with the poignant nature of the occasion and duly honored the core ideology of Ayatollah Ruhulla Moosavi Khomeini while experiencing confronting reflections within. His eminent role in the Iranian Revolution and in establishing an Islamic Republic that stands for justice, resistance, and spiritual awakening was a theme that underpinned the entire event.

One of the key moments was more than 50 children performing a very moving group rendition of Salaam Farmande. The children’s fervent recital reenergized the gathering with renewed goal and emotion-the spirit of the festival, upon which to pass the ideals of Khomeini onto future generations.

Esteemed scholars came forth to share insights on various facets of Imam Khomeini’s multifaceted personality. These speakers included Maulana Haider Abbas, Maulana Syed Mohammed Askari, Maulana Husain Mahdi Husaini, and Maulana Hasnain Rizvi Kararvi.

The speakers at this event talked about several aspects of the life of Khomeini, including his unshakable opposition to oppression, his genuine commitment to Qur’an and Ahlul Bayt, and his stand on the unification and self-reliance of Muslims.

The speakers further showed the relevance of Imam Khomeini’s thought for the present socio-political milieu, strongly appealing on the audience to remember his call for resistance against tyranny and upholding moral uprightness in leadership.

An audio-visual presentation added further substance to the proceedings by going through the life of Imam Khomeini, including his early life, struggle against the Pahlavi regime, the 1979 Iranian Revolution, and his imprint on the world Islamic awakening.

It gave the audience a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of the historical moments that carved a new political and spiritual direction for the Muslim world.

The event concluded with prayers and a reaffirmation to uphold the values upheld by Imam Khomeini. The organization of the event itself, its overwhelming attendance, and the deeply emotional tributes spoke for the enduring legacy that Imam Khomeini carries more than three decades after his passing.
